Our Story

RV (really) empty nesting?

Hi! We are the Lockwoods. In 2023, we gave our kids the boot and decided to sell the house so that we could live life on our own terms. We bought a 2018 Keystone Montana Fifth Wheel RV to start the transition to a nomadic life with the goal of leaving our home state of Florida in search of a life that didn’t involve an early grave or going broke before retirement.

This is a second marriage for both of us. Jon brought 3 children and Hannah brought 2 children into the marriage. Our only “child” together is our fur-child, Buddy, who is too dependent on his daily cheese ration to leave the nest.

Follow along with us as we figure out life on the road and chase our dream life.

Downsizing for Freedom

We struggled with the decision to move from our 4 bedroom 3 bath executive home to a space with a total of approximately 350 square feet with only 1 bedroom and 1 bath.  When our friends and family were asking us why we would give up our comfortable home in a nice neighborhood to live like gypsies, we determined that the nomadic RV lifestyle and our enjoyment of life was way more important than what other people thought of us. Now that we have fully embraced the downsized life, we are convinced that we may never go back to  sticks and bricks living.
